CRIM 2240 - Ethics in Criminal Justice

This course will explore why ethical decision making is so critical in today’s criminal justice system. The far reaching power and discretionary decision making in criminal justice makes the examination of ethics in the criminal justice system a critical study for any professional going into the field.  This class will examine the ethical issues that surround the various aspects of the criminal justice system and explore how they are dealing with them in the United States.  This course will explore how decisions made will effect offenders, victims and the public.  Theories and ideas will be discussed to deal with current and future ethical challenges that the Criminal Justice System will be dealing with.
