Dental Hygiene AAS Degree

Purpose
Graduates of the dental hygiene degree are eligible to take national and regional board examinations which are required to become a Registered Dental Hygienist (R.D.H.) An R.D.H. license is required in order to practice in a dental office or clinic. Note: This degree is available at Hastings Suggested Sequence of Courses Prerequisite Requirements
BIOS 1010 is a prerequisite for BIOS 2250 which is a required program course. BIOS 1010 must be taken before BIOS 2250
General Education Core Requirements
All graduates with an AA, AS, AAS or ADN will complete a minimum of 15 credits of General Education. To complete General Education requirements Dental Hygiene students must take the following:
- GEN ED Group A: Communications 3 credit(s)
(Required: SPCH 1110 OR SPCH 1400 )
- GEN ED Group B: Critical Thinking and Problem Solving 5 credit(s)
(Required: BIOS 1280 , CHEM 1050 OR CHEM 1090 AND CHEM 1100 )
- GEN ED Group C: Life and Career Skills, D: Information & Technology Literacy or E: Global Awareness 3 credit(s)
(met with SOCI 1010 from prerequisite requirements)
- GEN ED Group A, B, C, D or E 4 credit(s)
(met with BIOS 2460 from prerequisite requirements)
Total Credits for AAS Degree: 81-85
