    Information relating specific emergencies to the types of medications used for treatment, including math calculation skills for medication dosing. Will also include using assessment practices to determine adequate versus non-adequate respiration and its pharmacologic treatments.

  • PARM 1070 - OB/GYN & Pediatrics

    Prerequisite (taken before): PARM 1060 Medical Emergencies  
    Application and integration of assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implementation plan for the management of gynecological, obstetrical and pediatric emergencies. This will include practice in assisting delivery of a newborn that will be done in lab as well as in a simulations of a prehospital environment. At the conclusion of this course students will receive Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

  • PARM 1080 - Special Populations & EMS Operations

    Prepares students for special situations including geriatric emergencies, abuse and neglect situations, chronic disease and care with assessment based management. Will also review ambulance operations and hazmat materials and will incorporate multiple agency responses.

    A comprehensive study as well as certifications of Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). This will give a well-rounded review of trauma care, medical disease process and treatment, as well as high quality advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation.  All, while emphasizing skills, procedures and teamwork required for paramedic certification.
