Business Administration, Accounting, Entrepreneurship and Logistics

Program Description

In today’s world, knowing how businesses operate is more important than ever. If you’re interested in becoming anything from an accountant to an entrepreneur, getting your business administration degree is definitely a step in the right direction - and the opportunities for growth are tremendous. Business Administration is our most popular major - for good reason. It offers a broad view of business operations, giving you a foundation of knowledge you can put to work in many different career paths. And that’s a good thing, considering the U.S. Department of Labor says the average person changes jobs 11 times in his or her lifetime.

Our associate degree program prepares graduates for entry-level staff or management positions. CCC’s graduates obtain jobs in profit organizations such as retailers, banks, manufacturers and restaurants, and non-profit organizations such as hospitals, museums, and charities.

Students will specialize in one of two areas:  Business Administration or Accounting. Students can develop additional expertise by completing elective courses in the areas of Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Information Technology, Media Arts, Nursing Home Administration, Business Technology, Quality Control, Logistics, Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, or Agriculture. You will gain the practical knowledge and critical thinking skills desired in today’s competitive business world.

The Entrepreneurship Training Program champions students’ dreams and actions in starting their own business. It expands awareness and knowledge of new venture opportunities, offers methods for creating and growing small businesses, and promotes the important role entrepreneurship plays in the growth of the global economy.

Students who wish to pursue a career as a Nursing Home Administrator or Assisted Living Administrator can complete Long Term Care (LTCA) courses at Southeast Community College. Offered online, these courses can meet the 15 credit Business Elective requirement for the AAS Degree in Business Administration.

Diplomas are offered in Accounting and Business Administration. Certificates are offered in Bookkeeping, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Supervisory Management, and Logistics.

The Logistics Certificate will prepare students for a career in transportation, distribution, purchasing, production, or inventory control.

Student Learning Outcomes

Business Administration AAS graduates are prepared to:

Accounting Specialization:  Analyze business events to complete the accounting cycle in conformity with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and practices.

  • Analyze and interpret accounting information to aid in making management decisions.
  • Apply payroll regulations.
  • Apply income tax regulations.
  • Demonstrate the use of current technology for solving accounting problems.

Business Administration Specialization:  Analyze, evaluate and apply management principles, methods, and techniques in a business environment.

  • Distinguish the management functions.
  • Apply management styles and skills.
  • Analyze marketing research, segmentation and the basic elements of the marketing mix and their applications to business situations.
  • Analyze the framework and environmental factors of global markets.
  • Evaluate the legal and ethical issues that affect employees and employers.
  • Relate and predict economic success based on economic factors and the prevailing economic climate.
